Metta Meditation

practice the following with 3 repetitions focused on yourself, someone you love, all others. Using the starter phrase (may I/ may you / may we all).

Then choose some of the following thoughts to hold at your heart.

  • May I be peaceful and light in my body and in my mind.
  • May I be safe and free from accidents, war and disasters.
  • May I be free from anger and other unwholesome states of mind like fear and worry.
  • May I know how to look at myself with the eyes of understanding, love and compassion.
  • May I be able to recognise and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in myself.
  • May I learn how to nourish myself with joy and happiness each day.
  • May I be able to live fresh, solid and free.
  • May I not fall into the state of indifference or be caught in the extremes of attachment or aversion.
